PU47 is a professional-grade, one-component polyurethane adhesive sealant developed for demanding bonding and sealing applications in automotive, construction, metal fabrication, and industrial environments. It combines the high adhesive strength of an industrial-grade bonding agent with the elasticity of a durable sealant, ensuring permanent flexibility even under dynamic stress or vibration. The product cures through reaction with ambient moisture, forming a tough, elastic, and weather-resistant joint that maintains its integrity under mechanical load and thermal expansion.
Its non-sag thixotropic consistency allows precise application on vertical and overhead surfaces without dripping or slumping, making it ideal for seam sealing, panel bonding, joint filling, and vibration-damping applications. PU47 adheres strongly to a wide variety of materials including metals, painted surfaces, plastics, wood, and concrete, typically without the need for a primer, provided surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or dust.
Once cured, PU47 forms a durable, paintable surface suitable for OEM-level finishing. It offers excellent resistance to water, weathering, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations from −40 °C to +100 °C, ensuring long-term performance indoors or outdoors. The product’s fast-curing and single-component formulation simplifies workflow, reduces assembly time, and increases efficiency during manufacturing or repair operations.
Typical applications include sealing welded or riveted seams, bonding structural panels, attaching spoilers or body components, and general industrial assembly where high mechanical strength and elastic sealing are required.
In essence, Würth PU47 delivers the perfect balance of strength, elasticity, and durability, engineered for professionals who need a fast, reliable, and long-lasting bonding and sealing solution.
Do not apply PU47 on wet, frozen, or hot surfaces. Not suitable for permanent water immersion or use in combination with solvent-, alcohol-, or bitumen-based materials. Prior to application, always test adhesion and compatibility on sensitive materials such as plastics, coated metals, and painted surfaces in an inconspicuous area. Paint systems may vary; verify compatibility before overcoating. The usage instructions are based on tests and practical experience; users must conduct their own trials before each application. Due to the wide variety of materials, storage, and processing conditions, no liability is assumed for specific application results. Where technical advice is provided, it does not constitute a binding assurance of suitability unless confirmed in writing as part of an agreed service. Würth ensures consistent product quality and reserves the right to implement technical improvements and further product development.
Datasheets(X)
PU47 is a versatile polyurethane adhesive sealant suitable for a wide range of professional applications across multiple industries, including:
- Automotive and Transport: Seam sealing in vehicle body construction, bonding metal panels, attaching spoilers, sealing welded or riveted joints, vibration damping, and general body repair
- Metal Fabrication: Elastic bonding and sealing of sheet metal components, enclosures, ducts, and equipment housings exposed to vibration or thermal movement.
- Construction and Building: Sealing and bonding expansion joints, window and door frames, wall and floor connections, and pre-fabricated elements where flexibility and durability are required.
- Industrial Assembly: Structural bonding of components in machinery, ventilation systems, HVAC units, and production lines requiring both strength and elasticity.
- Marine and Agricultural Equipment: Sealing and bonding of joints, seams, and panels exposed to weather, moisture, or mechanical stress.
In all cases, ensure that the substrate is compatible and that adhesion has been verified through preliminary testing before large-scale application.
PU47 is supplied in foil packs and can be applied using manual, pneumatic, or cordless Würth M-CUBE caulking guns. Before application, ensure all substrates are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dust, and loose contaminants. Insert the foil pack into the caulking gun, cut open the clip end, and attach the nozzle. Trim the nozzle to the desired bead size and apply the material in a steady, continuous bead, avoiding air entrapment.
For bonding applications, position and press the parts together firmly within the skin formation time to ensure full surface contact. Tool and smooth the joint within the tack-free period using a spatula or suitable finishing tool, do not use alcohol-based smoothing agents as they may inhibit curing.
Do not apply on wet or frozen substrates or at temperatures below +5 °C or above +40 °C. The curing process occurs through exposure to atmospheric moisture; ensure sufficient ventilation to achieve full cure before subjecting joints to stress or load. Clean tools and remove uncured material immediately with a suitable solvent; once cured, the sealant can only be removed mechanically.
